It is so easy to get caught up with what the world wants us to do vs what God calls us to do.

I recently made a very important decision, I had to choose to keep working on my career or to let it go. I chose to let it go and I am very certain that the decision came from the Holy Spirit because I was baptized a few weeks prior. My heart and soul was being put into this great dream of mine but it was costing me more than I ever thought it could. I was putting my Passion First God Second Husband Third and let me tell you from personal experience prioritizing your life like that will rob you of the joy God intended you to have.

Now that I have made the decision I realize how empty it had made me over the last 2-3 years. Now that I am not distracted by it anymore I feel like I am empty, the biggest reason being self-serving. There is only so much happiness gained from serving yourself but true joy comes from The Lord.

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Happiness is short lived like this life, therefore we should not seek to make ourselves happy or to seek after our own pleasures. We need to have joy in every situation because we know God is eternal and when he comes back we will have eternal joy.
